Winter solstice has come and gone and the Vancouver Island sun is already warming my desk this morning at 8 AM. It is almost time for Christmas. Ray and I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous 2024.
Good karma has followed me closely this year. I must have been a saint in a past life. Only those of you that follow my blog will see this message, so you already know about my great travels in 2023. From Mexico to Europe and some great adventures in The Ritz, it’s almost hard to believe we jammed it all into one year.
Good health continues to plague us, with the exception of a few too many viruses. That we can thank our wonderful grandson Talon for. Now he’s in daycare so I’m getting ready for a snotty 2024. He’s worth every sneeze.
2024 Resolutions
For many of us, this time of year is ripe with resolutions. I am no exception. I spend a lot of time walking (the dog) and swimming (laps) and thinking. I have come up with a few key goals, and I’ll share them with you for reinforcement. Once said out loud it must be done.
- I pledge to finish all unfinished projects. I have been cross-stitching a salmon for TWO YEARS now. Even though it is what I asked for, it might be the worst gift Ray ever gave me. Unlike some of my friends (you know who you are), I am unable to start any new projects until the old one is done. Talon has outgrown all his hand knit baby sweaters and my hands have been tied up in embroidery thread. It is time to get that puppy into the framers tout de suite.
- I pledge to write more and watch fewer Donald Trump videos. The orange beast is never going to jail anyway. I am going to read more and watch less reality TV, unless its Survivor or the Amazing Race. I’m actually thinking of starting another blog – about cooking. Something along the lines of this one https://lifefromscratch.com/. This is actually a domain name I searched for my own project. What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
- There will be more hiking trails and music festivals in 2024. That won’t be easy, but it will be fun. I’d like to hike every single trail on Vancouver Island. Feel free to send me suggestions.
- I am going to lose weight, quite drinking and start weight lifting. Ha Ha Ha Ha – just kidding. I’d better stop before things get silly. I have some cross-stitching to do.
Today my visit with Talon has been cancelled due to yet another daycare virus, and I am munching on raw garlic and oranges. It’s prep day for the big Christmas feast that hopefully everyone is healthy for. For we pagans, Christmas is just a day but a very nice one full of family, friends and food. I hope yours is full too, of whatever is important to you.
